StampSherpa vs Taradel: two ways to mail the neighborhood

Taradel practically invented self-serve EDDM ordering, and if you want one big neighborhood blast it is a fine way to buy one. StampSherpa turns the same idea into a monthly habit with the design and tracking handled. Here is the honest split, bias disclosed.

The short version

Choose Taradel for a one-time or occasional EDDM blast at serious volume, ordered like a print job. Choose StampSherpa if you want the neighborhood mailed every month on a flat subscription, with the card designed from your website automatically and a scannable response code on every piece.

What Taradel is

Taradel is a Virginia company whose map-based EDDM ordering flow also powers direct-mail programs for major retail partners (Staples’ direct-mail service runs on it). You pick carrier routes on a map, upload or build a design, and order a campaign. Their own pricing guides (as of July 2026) put typical all-inclusive EDDM at roughly 29 to 46 cents per piece depending on size and volume, with a published example of 69 cents per piece all-inclusive for a 6.25 by 9 card at 1,000 pieces. They also sell targeted-list mail and digital ad bundles. Orders are one-off by default: you come back and order again when you want to mail again.

What StampSherpa is

StampSherpa’s Neighborhood plan ($349 per month) is EDDM as a subscription: drag a circle on a map around your business, and about 200 homes on a carrier route receive an oversized 6.5 by 9 card each month, with extra homes at $1.75 each. The card designs itself from your website (six fresh designs every month), printing and USPS handling are included, and every card carries a scannable code that logs responses to a dashboard. The recurring shape is deliberate: multi-touch campaigns lift response by as much as 50 percent in industry research, and subscriptions make the touches happen.
